The UPS Store Franchise: Marketing & Print Design

Building awareness of printing services in the local community

Overview

I joined the team to help raise printing awareness among new and repeat customers across the franchise’s network. Working closely with the management team, I created a variety of marketing and internal reference materials to promote their printing services.

Targeted postcards and Google review stickers are two key projects that contribute to this initiative.

  • Graphic Designer, Print Specialist

  • Many customers are unaware that The UPS Store offers a wide range of printing services, as the brand is primarily associated with shipping and packing.

  • Engage with in-store customers and reach out to local individuals and small businesses to shift brand perceptions to include printing, driving sales growth.

  • Targeted Postcards, Google Review Stickers

  • Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Fiery Command Workstation

Targeted Postcards

Ten postcards were printed in-house, specifically targeting dental practices near two The UPS Store locations.

The design features an A-frame sign as the hero image to promote a high-value print product commonly needed by businesses. To encourage customer interaction, I added QR codes that lead to each store’s print information and inquiry forms, as well as custom coupons.

A flexible template was created to utilize variable text, allowing for easy and efficient customization for different recipients. ChatGPT was used as a tool to brainstorm call-to-actions and supporting text copy.

Although I didn’t have the formal branding guidelines, I aimed to follow a similar visual style based on an analysis of relevant print marketing materials.

Google Review Stickers

While the targeted postcards focused on attracting new customers, there was also a need to engage with existing customers after their print order was completed. The team identified a gap in feedback after pickup, so I was tasked with creating a bounce-back-style solution to gain reviews.

An earlier iteration was a small flyer to be handed directly to a customer during pickup. However, the team learned that the flyers were frequently overlooked and felt awkwardly packaged with shrink-wrapped posters or business cards.

The form soon evolved from a flyer to a sticker that could be placed on any packaged order, making it consistently visible to customers.
