Vershel

Aug. 2020–Oct. 2020

The goal of this project was to create a typeface based on a person we admire. In this case, I chose Shel Silverstein because his books were one of my favorites during my childhood. This project went through the process of learning type anatomy and hand lettering to develop a typeface specimen, poster, and conceptual design for branding applications. Originally this was meant to be a handmade book; however, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the final type specimen was printed using Blurb’s services.

Inspiration for design concept.

Vershel contains uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and select symbols.

This typeface was finalized in FontLab using vector sketches from Illustrator.
